Comprehensive Care

  The physicians of Orthopaedic Associates provide comprehensive orthopaedic care by offering on site physical therapy services. Located at 8322 Bellona Avenue in Towson, the 6,000 square foot facility includes a specially designed swimming pool and the latest physical therapy equipment. It allows the physicians and therapists to work together towards optimum patient care.

What is Physical Therapy?

  Physical therapy is a paramedical treatment that will aid patients in returning to an optimal level of function following injury or illness. The physical therapists at Orthopaedic Associates use patient education, therapeutic exercise, modalities such as ice, heat, ultrasound, and TENS, splinting and hands-on manual therapy to aid patient in their recovery goals.

Who Provides Physical Therapy Services?

  At Orthopaedic Associates, physical therapy is provided and supervised by State of Maryland licensed physical therapists. The physical therapists are assisted by a staff of certified athletic trainers and physical therapy technicians.

Services Offered:
General Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
  Treatment including sprains, strains, tendonitis, bursitis, contusions and other Orthopaedic conditions not requiring surgery.
Post-Surgical Physical Therapy
  Post-surgical treatment is an integral part of an orthopaedic patient's recovery. Physicians and therapists at Orthopaedic Associates have developed protocols that allow for a safe, rapid recovery with optimum results. With physicians located in the same facility, patients are insured open communication and problem solving with the physician and the therapists during their rehabilitation.
Aquatic Therapy
  Aquatic Therapy is an excellent form of treatment to aid patients with increasing mobility, strength, and flexibility due to the buoyant properties of the water. Patients are treated in a specially designed, state-of-the-art heated therapy pool. Therapy is directly supervised by physical therapists trained in aquatic exercise. Many patients find aquatic treatment the key to their success. Locker rooms with showers are available for patients' use.
Sports Medicine
  Orthopaedic Associates strives to provide the latest in sports medicine rehabilitation. Early, rapid diagnosis and the initiation of treatment have been hallmarks of sports physical therapy.
Biomechanical Orthotics
  Specially trained therapists will evaluate foot and lower extremity conditions and determine the need and type of orthotic to be used. This service is often combined with a physical therapy program.
Hand Therapy
  A licensed occupational therapist, certified in hand therapy, works closely with the surgeons at Orthopaedic Associates to evaluate, treat, and splint the most complex hand and wrist injuries.
