Orthopaedic Associates now offers a new MRI system designed specifically for imaging the extremities (shoulder, wrist, hand, elbow, knee, ankle and foot). The system provides images of equal or better quality to whole-body MRI systems. It is located on the third floor of our Towson Office at 8322 Bellona Avenue.


The new system features an open magnet design that combines a spacious exam environment with the ability to provide images so detailed that they approach the fine-line anatomical drawings found in medical textbooks.



The open, comfortable design will benefit those patients who find standard MRI systems to be too confining, noisy or intimidating. It is designed specifically for extremity imaging such as knees, hips, shoulders, hands and feet. For most of the exams, the patient lies comfortably outside the magnet and extends only the anatomy being studied into magnet. The exam is virtually silent and completely claustrophobia free.



The Orthopaedic Associates' MRI Center also reduces time a patient waits for treatment. Since the Orthopaedic Associates' MRI Center is located in the Towson Office, patients can possibly have their MRI exam the same day as their appointment. The MRI exam is covered by most insurance plans.
